Awesome News for the Sunapee Region!!

A NEW ADVENTURE PARK AT MOUNT SUNAPEE RESORT WILL OFFER AN ARRAY OF SUMMER ACTIVITIES PROVIDING CHALLENGE AND FUN

This summer Mount Sunapee Resort will become a destination for family fun and adventure, just like during the winter season.  A new Adventure Park will be opening in June at Mount Sunapee that will include guided Canopy Zip Line Tours, a Treetop Obstacle Course, Off-Road Segway Excursions and a Disc Golf Course. The Clipper Ship quad chairlift will be operating up South Peak offering beautiful views of the mountains and servicing some of these activities.

The Canopy Zip Line Tour, constructed by Phoenix Experiential Designs, will be a 2 ½ hour guided tour that will include eight zip lines up to 1,000 ft. long, rope bridges and rappelling as guests descend South Peak.  Groups of up to eight will be led by two guides.  Guests must be 10 years old and between 70 and 250 pounds to take the Canopy Zip Line Tour.  In the Treetop Obstacle Course adventurers ages 5 and up will be harnessed into a self-guided series of obstacles which wind their way through the trees on the lower slopes of South Peak.  The course will feature a beginner loop for small children and an intermediate loop with guides along the way for support.  Guided Segway Excursions will wind through the base area of the resort.  Guests will be given a complete orientation before taking off for an hour-long tour on a Segway equipped with special off-road tires.  An 18-hole Disc Golf Course will follow Province trail in and out of the woods as it winds down South Peak.  Discs designed especially for Disc Golf will be available for rent.

“Our goal is to create an Adventure Park that fits the natural character of Mount Sunapee”, said Jay Gamble, Mount Sunapee general manager.  “We wanted the same brand values as we have in our winter activities: challenge, excitement, discovery, family fun and quality guest service in a natural and healthy environment.”

The Adventure Park will be open daily from late June through Labor Day and then weekends through Columbus Day weekend.  The Treetop Obstacle Course is scheduled to open mid-July. South Peak’s sunny southern exposure will allow the Canopy Zip Line Tour to operate weekends and holidays throughout the winter season.  Plus, the last two dual 1,000 ft. zip lines on the Canopy Zip Line Tour will be available as a separate activity during the winter without taking the whole tour.

During the summer a miniature golf course, an interpretive hiking trail and family oriented mountain bike trails will be under construction, which will be added to the Adventure Park for the 2013 summer season.

The Learning Center building at the base of South Peak will be the center of operations for the Adventure Park.  Here guests will register and receive orientations for the Canopy Zip Line Tour, Segway Excursions and the Treetop Obstacle Course.  Food and beverage will be available at the Learning Center.  Advance reservations will be required for the Canopy Zip Line Tour and the Segway Excursions.

Two New Hampshire Inns Offer "Hands In The Dirt" Gardening Getaway

Rosewood Country Inn And Candlelite Inn
Offer 4-Night Package Priced From $429 Per Person

What better way to celebrate the spring gardening season than with the "Hands In The Dirt" Gardening Getaway offered by the Rosewood Country Inn and Candlelite Inn in New Hampshire.  According to the Gardening Trends Report, approximately 41 million Americans planted vegetable gardens in 2009 and with the still-struggling economy, that number continues to rise.

As a result, the owners of the Rosewood Country Inn and the Candlelite Inn in Bradford, NH designed a special gardening getaway designed for both would-be gardeners as well as experienced gardening enthusiasts who would like to cultivate their love of horticulture.  What better way to spend four days in either May or June than to be pampered with comfortable accommodations and gourmet meals at two award-winning B&Bs in the picturesque Sunapee region of New Hampshire, while working with a Master Gardener in creating and planting an inn-spiring garden design and patio containers.

The "Hands In The Dirt" Gardening Getaway is offered twice this spring on a Sunday through Thursday: May 20 to 24 and June 3 to 7.  The itinerary is as follows:

Sunday:  Arrival at the Candlelite Inn followed by dinner that evening.

Monday:  An early breakfast followed by a workshop with a Master Gardener on creating a perennial garden. Participants will learn about temperature zones, plant selection, maintenance, care, and plant dividing as the group plants the Inn's front flower beds. Followed by lunch at the Inn.

Tuesday:  A leisurely breakfast before checking out of the Candlelite Inn. Participants spend the day checking out local garden shops and nurseries before they arrive at the Rosewood Country Inn mid-afternoon — just in time for cocktails and hors d'oeuvres before a quiet, four course dinner.

Wednesday:  A hearty breakfast before the session on container gardening. Even the smallest patio or porch can boast a crop of vegetables, herbs, or a garden of flowers in containers. Planter boxes, wooden barrels, hanging baskets, and large flowerpots are just some of the containers that can be used.

The New Hampshire Master Gardener will give expert advice, answer questions, and offer innovative ideas while filling the Rosewood Inn's patio containers.  Lunch at the Rosewood  Country Inn.

Thursday: A leisurely breakfast with new-found friends before departing and leaving inn-spired to get more creative when designing personal perennial beds and patio containers.

The 4-night "Hands In The Dirt" Gardening Getaway includes:
  • 4 nights lodging (2 nights at each inn);
  • 2 dinners;
  • 2 lunches (on gardening days);
  • 4 breakfasts;
  • 2 workshops with a Master Gardener;
  • Workshop #1 at the Candlelite Inn will cover designing perennial gardens;
  • Workshop #2 at the Rosewood Country Inn will cover container gardening;
This package is priced at $429 per person based on double occupancy (subject to availability), and is exclusive of tax and gratuities. To make a reservation, call the Rosewood Country Inn at 800-938-5273 or e-mail rosewoodinn@tds.net.

Upon arrival at The Candlelite Inn, guests can relax in their rooms and enjoy a gracious fireside dinner to end their day.  On Sunday morning, a delightful three-course breakfast is served and then afterwards participants can relax and enjoy a quiet morning before departure — or add some nights to their stay.
