2012 Winter Hikes in the Sunapee-Ragged-Kearsarge Greenway Region

The SRK Greenway Coalition's eight winter hikes begin on Jan 14th; All hikes are free to the public; For SRKGC info see: www.srkg.com. click here Please call the volunteer hike leader at least the night before to learn starting location and time. Winter conditions require ample clothing layers, food, and water; Normally snowshoes are the presumed mode of transport, but this year be especially prepared for ice;
March 3, Sat: Journey along Sunapee Ridge to Lucia's Lookout via Andrew Brook Trail to frozen Lake Solitude in Mount Sunapee and Pillsbury State Parks, 10 miles; Gerry Gold (526-2857)

17th Annual ChocolateFest Chocolate Challenge

At Colby-Sawyer College, Wheeler Hall, Weare Campus Center; Professional bakers, chefs and amateur enthusiasts will compete for top honors of best chocolate creation; Cost: $10 per person, children under 5 free; Presented by the Lake Sunapee Chamber of Commerce; Info: 526-6675 or visit http://www.lakesunapeenh.org

Moonlight Madness Snowshoe Hike

Full moon hike; The night will be EITHER March 7, 8 or 9th; If you are interested in participating, please send your email address to David Cook (dwcook@tds.net) and/or call (526-4570) between 5:30 and 6:30 each night to determine which night has been chosen for optimum conditions; Full moon rises at 6:32 on March 8th; The hike is 2 miles long and 2-hours in duration, and is not for novices; The meet, park, start and finish are all at the same location, in Elkins where the power line crosses Whitney Brook Rd, (just shy of 1/2 mile from where Whitney Brook Rd begins at Wilmot Center Rd) Sponsored by SRK Greenway, Ausbon Sargent and New London Conservation Commission.

6th Annual Dummy Big Air Contest
Mount Sunapee Resort Newbury, NH
Homemade dummy skiers and snowboarders are shot down the runway and launched off a huge jump. Great spectator event. Prizes awarded for best designed dummies, biggest air and best crash.
